In this illustration, the reproduction is shown on the left and the authentic Griswold “Erie No. The bright orange rust and the smaller size are tell-tale signs of the reproduction, making spotting the genuine “Erie” easy in this pair.
I’d be the first to admit I’ve been fooled a few times and purchased reproductions in my quest to add to my growing collection of vintage cast iron cookware, especially when I was a new collector.
Please be aware that this is not a complete list of reproductions/fakes and it is not a complete list of reproductions/fakes for each of the different cast iron/aluminum pieces (i.e., there are many different reproductions of the #0 Griswold skillet and also the tea size corn stick pan).

The first "Griswold" trademark to be used across virtually all production, and perhaps the most iconic, is known as the "slant logo".
This second trademark containing the Griswold name would be short lived, however, as traditional block lettering would begin to be replaced by stylized logos by many makers.
The last surviving text-only trademark would continue to be seen on the Victor economy line of skillets, to which "THE GRISWOLD MFG.
